This is cocktail is number two in a series of three with the local boutique, American Threads. So far, I’ve had a great time putting together recipes for the project!

This week has been a major scorcher. Driving home the last few days, I’ve noticed temperatures in the high 90’s and today, even 102!!!

After my 9-5 job, I need a refreshing drink. This blackberry gin fizz is just that; light, bubbly and slightly sweet.

6 ounces of blackberries
2 limes
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup water
3 shots gin
sparkling water (I used lime for added flavor)
mint for garnish

Combine berries, sugar and water in a small saucepan and bring to a simmer over medium heat. As the berries heat up, mash them to extract as much juice as possible. Pour through a strainer to remove the pulp. I ended up putting 2 tablespoons, or so back into the mix! Personally I like the texture. 🙂 Add the juice of 2 limes to the syrup. Chill berry syrup for 15 minutes.

Pour syrup ( and pulp if you like) into glass, fill about a third of the way. Add two shots of gin per glass, and top your cocktail off with club soda.

Garnish with mint and a juicy berry!

Cheers to YOU!
